Fly fishing is one of my greatest passions.
I began fly fishing at the age of 12, and have fished with nothing but a fly rod since. I spent my childhood catching native brookies in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I fished throughout Maine while attending college. In the mid-80s, I moved out West to attend graduate school and hit fly fishing pay dirt. I lived within casting distance of one of Northern California's great steelhead rivers.
In the 90s I fished a lot. So much so that in 1996 someone suggested, "maybe you should guide, you can make some money from fishing so much!" That was all the prompting I needed. I attended Guide School at the Clearwater House in California and "hung my shingle" soon after in 1997.
In 1998, I met the Hyde Driftboat boys, got my first Hyde, and started guiding in Idaho by 1999. While guiding in Idaho, I fished the Madison and Bitterroot Rivers in nearby Montana. By 2000, I was guiding in Montana as well. In 2009, I became a Montana Outfitter - Number 9960.
While guiding, I split my time between beautiful Twin Bridges, Montana and Island Park, Idaho. My home is in Twin Bridges, where I am self-employed as an ecologist.
